Hi fellows, I'm facing some performance issues on my farm (4.5 RO3 / W2K3 SP2) in the past months and I suspect one or more HP-drivers to be the reason. Therefore I am about to clean-up the drivers on my TS and printservers. Like everywhere printing is a big topic also in my farm. All in all I have 150 TS publishing a desktop, 16 printservers publishing 1600 printers which are used by approx. On the TSE there are approx. ![]() 280 different drivers installed. I know, it's a mess. At the moment I am about to review this mess in order to get rid of unused drivers resp. To homogenize the driver environment across the printservers/TSE I saw that a lot of my HP Laserjet printers are running on MS native drivers (unidrv.dll). However, according to the HP/Ctx compatibility list I ought to use HP drivers in certain versions instead. ![]() What should I do - use the MS-drivers or switch to the HP-version? Actually the Laserjets are mostly running fine but I'm not sure if the proper HP-drivers maybe help to get rid of the performance-issues. On the other hand I'm afraid lots of different HP-drivers could cause other problems because of files they use in common. I think of dll-version-conflicts and so on. How do you handle this? My local IT-guys are spoiled. I once tried to implement the HP-UPD but they were missing some options then.
